Proving that you don’t need nostalgia to make an action figure film, there’s going to be a big screen adaptation of Mattel’s 1999 Max Steel toy line, and because girls (amongst others) were going to skip it, they’ve hired Twilight actor Taylor Lautner to star as the easily forgettable action hero.
If you don’t remember Max Steel, that’s because the line didn’t really catch in the US, but like Hasselhoff, he’s huge in Europe. The line’s about a teenage extreme sports star (In the 90′s, that described just about everyone), who gets superpowers through nano-technology. He had his own CGI tv show here in the states starting in 2000, where apparently his superpowers did not include crossing the uncanny valley.

More like Max “Whofuckingcares”!
Funny, this whole time I thought we were talking about ActionMan. I guess all these 90′s superheroes that nobody cares about blur together a little.
