TIP YOUR FORTIES FOR DAN O’BANNON
12.21.09
Sci-fi legend Dan O’Bannon has died at the age of 63 after a 30-year battle with Crohn’s disease. He is survived by his wife, Diane, and his son, Adam. He also leaves behind some amazing work. He wrote Total Recall, Lifeforce, and the first draft of the script that later became Alien. He wrote and directed Return Of The Living Dead, did some of the computer effects on Star Wars, and was co-writer, visual effects supervisor, and actor on John Carpenter’s Dark Star (clip below, and yes, that alien is tickling him).
I hope Roy Brocksmith shows up soon to tell me none of this is real.

“See you at the party, Dan”!
I got to talk to this guy a few years ago. He was cranky and awesome. He was pissed at Hollywood for their fuckedness and also pissed at Bush and not afraid to tell you about it.
Thanks Dan, RIP.
