TNT has picked up Steven Spielberg’s untitled alien invasion TV series starring Noah Wyle (ER, The Librarian, apparently still alive) and Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation, ridiculously hot). Ten episodes will air in 2011.
The series begins after a massive alien invasion has ravaged the Earth. The show will focus on a small group of survivors/rebels. And from the looks of this picture [Ed. - the banner picture, via Spoiler TV], they aren’t messing around. [io9]
I never got into Spielberg’s last alien TV show, Taken, but this series has something Taken didn’t have: screenwriter Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan). If the action in this is half as good as Saving Private Ryan, I’ll let it go all the way on the first date. I do that anyway, but I’ll pretend like I don’t so this show thinks it’s special.

This looks promising. And god knows TV needs more good sci-fi.
The open to Ryan was all Spielberg. A triumph of direction and editing more than the work of any screenwriter.
And on that point, Rodat is a bit of hack; no sense of pacing or logic. Check out William Goldman’s blasting of the film, excerpted here: http://www.flakmag.com/film/spielberg/ryan.html for just a taste of the “screenwriting” awesomeness.
this might be good.
Hewy, I thought Saving Private Ryan was a cliche riddled piece of crap. The only thing that made it memorable (Over movies like The Longest Day or ANY WWII picture from Warners during WWII) was the special effects and the fact you now can show blood and guts without the sky falling on you.
