The Discovery Channel and Hasbro have unveiled the name of their upcoming TV Channel, “The Hub,” which will be taking over The Discovery Kids Channel this fall. Now we’ve never heard of The Discovery Kids Channel, but we assume it’s lost somewhere in the 900s – just past the Salsa music channel.
Now, why is this at all important? Because Hasbro is bringing new TV shows based on classic Hasbro properties to the channel, including a new Transformers series. (When the partnership was first announced in April, Variety reported that they were also planning a new G.I. Joe series, but that wasn’t mentioned in the latest news piece. Of course, the original article also said they were planning shows based on Romper Room, Tonka, My Little Pony, Scrabble, Cranium and Trivial Pursuit…so they may have just been listing anything they could see in their offices at the time.)
Now, we feel the need to point out – purely in the interest of starting pointless internet rumors – that this network could theoretically make shows based on any of the properties Hasbro owns the rights to, including COPS, M.A.S.K. or even the Visionaries (if you don’t remember them, they’re heavily mustached knights with holograms on their chests).
They almost certainly not going to do that, but it’s nice to dream, isn’t it?

A Spirograph heavy, music themed show on late night or GTFO!
Yes. Today’s youth need to know the importance of waging an eternal war over something truly important – energon cubes.
Does that mean that the whole transformers universe is just a big drug war? You’re kind of killing my childhood here.
Pretty sure the Cylon hub was destroyed, boss.
i do not… not not… not… want a M.A.S.K. cartoon. i loved that show to much and still try to track down the toys to want to see some modern raping of the once classic and perfect cartoon.
Can’t they save some money and just air the old cartoons?
The old cartoons are never as good as you remember…THEY ARE AWESOMER! THUNDERCATS, HOOOOOOOOOOOO!
