Sony has filed a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a “universal game console controller”.  It has an LCD touchscreen displaying buttons that change their design to match the console being used.  This raises a some questions:

  1. How can I find the button to press to steal cars if I can’t feel anything but a flat screen?
  2. Is this compatible with my KitchenAid Stand Mixer?  THIS IS IMPORTANT.
  3. Will it have turbo buttons like the NES Max?  Turbo buttons or GTFO.
  4. Can it Triforce?

To answer the second question myself, the patent says it’s compatible with “the Playstation made by Sony, a controller made by Nintendo, X-box game controllers made by Microsoft, Atari Jaguar controllers, Gravis Gamepad controllers, Sega controllers, and Turbographics controllers.”

You can view a fascinating diagram from the patent filing after the jump.
