zonad

QuietEarth posted a review and a “fist teaser” (I must know what this is) for Zonad last week, and I’ve been waiting for the trailer since.  They must have gotten my letters (I told you kitty stickers could work as postage) because the trailer [via Twitch] is out now. It’s Irish and typically quirky.  They had me at the line, ”Zonad’s been all over the galaxy.  He’s staying in Jimmy’s room for awhile.”

It’s written and directed by the Carney brothers (not actual carnies).  Simon Delaney stars, reprising the role of Zonad he played in the 2003 short film (second clip below).  He plays an alcoholic who escapes from rehab on the same night that a comet passes close to Earth.  When a rural family find him unconcious next to their minibar wearing a strange outfit, they assume he’s from space.  Of course.  He plays along when he realizes being a spaceman gets him free drinks and sex.  Why didn’t I think of that?
