What do you do when you have $30,000 worth of Lego and robotic supplies?  Two chicks at the same time of course.  But, if you can’t do that, you can do the next best thing: build a ginormous robotic chess set with self-propelled pieces made out of over 100,000 Lego.

The board is 156 square feet (14.5 square meters) and took four people about a year to build.  The pieces are able to position themselves and find their own way around the board using the uniquely colored labels at the center of each square.  The video below starts out slow but gets progressively more awesome around 3:40, when the horse’s front legs start kicking and the queen shakes her scepter when she checkmates.  You should always keep a scepter around when you play chess.  That’s baller.
