Last night Heatvision reported Martin Sheen was in final negotiations to play Uncle Ben in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot, and Deadline confirms that he’s signed.  Heatvision also reports Sally Field is in early talks to play Aunt May. For those keeping track at home, Emma Stone is playing Gwen Stacy, Andrew Garfield‘s playing Peter Parker, and Rhys Ifans is playing Curt Conners (The Lizard).

Man, I can’t wait to see the scene where it turns out Uncle Ben has a coked-up son who locks a porn star in the principal’s office and blames Peter, and then Aunt May has sex with the pricipal to get Peter allowed back into school.  Ha, Forrest Gump references and making fun of somebody’s son is topical and timely.  Is Emilio Estevez still alive? ‘Cause I’ve got a whole bag of timely Maximum Overdrive jokes here with his name on them.
