THR and Deadline report the new Superman has been cast for the Zack Snyder directed and Christopher Nolan produced reboot. 27-year-old British actor Henry Cavill is set to have the whole world saying, “Who?”
We hear he was in the Tudors, which is a show that exists. Cavill reportedly bested other top contenders Matthew Goode, Matthew Bomer, Armie Hammer, Joe Manganiello, and Colin O’Donaghue for the role.
E! asked Christian Bale about the casting for some reason:
So, Batman to Superman, what is Bale’s reaction to Henry Cavill’s casting in the Christopher Nolan-produced Man of Steel movie? None. He stares kinda blankly at a reporter for a beat or two, clearly having never, ever heard of Cavill. [Ed.- or maybe he just didn't know why your reporter was asking him about this] Finally, he summons a blurb you can be assured will not appear on a DVD box anytime soon, “Well done for whoever you mentioned.” [EOnline, emphasis mine]
Indeed, Batman. Indeed.
For those keeping track at home, Superman, Spider-Man, and Batman are now British and The Green Lantern is Canadian. Me and Spuds Mackenzie are going to hang out with Captain America now. Kthxbai.

Thank the good lord above that Cap’n Amurica is bein’ portrayed by an Amurican!!! So what if its Chris Evans, its still sumthin! Right?…..USA!USA!USA!
I was hoping for Matt Bomer, because as much as the wingnuts will flip out over a British Superman, imagine how many heads would explode over a gay Superman.
Christian Bale is my spirit animal. Forever and ever.
I thought that the most iconic American hero was going to be played by an American. Actors from other countries can play the superheroes, but they will always be recognized as American superheroes. USA:)
