So I’m sitting here working on the blog with my iPod set to shuffle on the Hip Hop/Rap genre (not Hip-Hop/Rap, I guess that’s something else), when what sounds like a rock song about technology and wanting things now pops on. I had no idea what it was, so I walked over to discover it’s a song called “Now Generation” by The Black Eyed Peas from their most recent record The E.N.D. (yeah, I like the BEP, what’s it to you?). I hadn’t heard this song yet because this isn’t a very good record (too mellow for my tastes), but this song took me by surprise and not just because it sounds like an actual band is playing it.

I think it’s common knowledge by now that the Peas were just a trio of hip hop nerds before Fergie joined and they blew up. Well, apparently this song (sung by Fergie and Will i Am) is trying to get back to the geekery as is the live perfomance in the video above. You’ve got Fergie’s weird Regan-from-The Exorcist-spiderwalk posing and the giant Gort-like inflatable robots bearing the groups name in the video above. Here’s a few verses from the song:

It’s bad when your own headline makes you kind of cringe, isn’t it? Yeah, anyway, the Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Robot Chicken and Titan Maximum masterminds Seth Green, Matt Senreich and Tom Root are working on an animated series for Fox.

Green, Senreich and Root’s project, which uses family life and a high school as backdrops for a wide cast of characters, “will have an aesthetic familiar to viewers of Fox’s popular animated comedies,” said Green, an original cast member on Fox’s flagship animated comedy, “Family Guy.”

If nothing else, this should keep Green busy as he does voice work for Family Guy and The Cleveland Show as well. I haven’t seen Titan Maximum yet, but I’m always down for more prime time network animation, especially if it’s not all by the same guy, I’m looking your way Seth MacFarlane.

You might think that news from Risky Business about a Ramones biopic doesn’t count as geek news, but you’d be completely wrong. Long before emo came along and made being lame cool, the Ramones were rocking peoples’ faces off with their ridiculously fast songs about teenage alienation. Don’t believe me? Just check out the above video for “Pinhead” and their rendition of the Spider-Man theme song below.

The movie will be based on the book by Joey Ramone’s real life brother Mickey Leigh called I Slept With Joey Ramone and is due out in September.

You can’t go wrong with a British comedian telling a Muppet “These are the no go areas: drugs, child abuse, the Holocaust.” Thanks to the Associated Press for posting this hilarious compilation of out takes from Gervais’ visit to Sesame Street and Bleeding Cool for drawing out attention to it.

MMO’s aren’t my cup of tea. I don’t have the time, patience or money for them. That being said, it looks like DC Universe Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic are trying to suck me in by combining my love of both properties with a strong desire to waste more time. And, yeah, I know the above trailer is old, but it’s still damn cool.

All this is a roundabout way of telling you that Kotaku had two big pieces of information for my fellow fans looking forward to said games. First up, they reported on how to sign up to hopefully-maybe get a chance to play the beta of SW: TOR. You’ve got to sign up for the forums and then you can head to the Game Testing Page to sign up. Again, it’s not guaranteed, but what else are you doing today?

On the DCUO front, Kotaku showed off 18 pictures of Green Arrow images from the game. There’s a great mix of images from the design stages to turnarounds to in-game screens that are all pretty impressive. As a GA fan, it gets me excited for the game. Also, take a second to read the comments in which vid3oman64 calls GA a racist. Now, I know I’m jumping in to aid a ficitonal character here, but nothing could be further from the truth. Green Arrow’s the uber-liberal of the superhero community and everyone knows it. Get your facts straight vid3oman64! Anyway, here’s some pics from Kotaku.

DC Comics’ toy and statue division DC Direct has been around for 11 years now. Lately, their MO has been to put out figures based on specific artist interpretations of our favorite characters, but it wasn’t always so. The company got its start putting out figures based on WildStorm and Vertigo properties and then moved on the superheros, but there were some definitely missteps along the way and we think it’s time to get some redesigns on our favorite characters, hopefully with an eye towards the artists who made them famous.

10. BIRDS OF PREY

Yeah, we know the Birds aren’t active at the moment, but how rad would it be to have a sexy 3-pack based on the artwork of Ed Benes, Greg Land or Nicola Scott? The answer is “super rad.” Of course, you’d also have to update the costumes and maybe throw a Batgirl costume under Barbra Gordon’s civies as a nod to her history.
