It’s time once again for our Friday comic book cosplay feature, spotlighting the best superhero (and villain) related costuming from the cosplay community.  We’re casting the spotlight onto those cosplayers who we think deserve special recognition for coming up with the best costumes, whatever the budget, and the photographers who capture them for posterity.

Gamma Squad is committed to giving a voice to the cosplay community that thrives in groups like our friends at TheSuperheroCostumingForum.com. Each week we spotlight our favorite costumes and each month we host a cosplay contest. We’ll be picking a theme for each month and inviting cosplayers, costumers and photographers to submit related pictures of their work to our Flickr group to be considered. We’ll then pick our top choices and post them on Gamma Squad for the adoration of all.

We’ll be posting photoshops of this later today. That’s a promise. (UPDATE: ta da!)

Our obsession with the photos and videos from the Cleveland set of The Avengers continues (previous galleries: 1, 2, 3, 4). In addition, Marvel screened some new footage at Disney’s D23 Expo this weekend. It hasn’t leaked online yet, but io9 provides a description if you like to read about a video somebody else saw that you can’t see. Then again, my description probably would have amounted to, “Dude! Dude, it’s was awesome. Dude. Seriously. There was like that one guy and that other guy with the thing and they were all like, ‘AAAAA!” and I was all like, ‘Whoa.‘ Seriously dude. So awesome.”

We’re kicking off day four of our obsessive The Avengers watch with videos of Chris Evans’s's’s stunt double getting thrown out of a window and slamming into the hood of a car (which looks like it hurt like hell in the first video here). We have a couple videos of that after the jump, although the video here is the best and yet doesn’t embed because we can’t have nice things.

Also below are some pictures of what appears to be — spoiler alert — a small alien spaceship, and one of the guys in a motion-capture suit who was fighting with Cap in the video from Wednesday is laying next to the ship. I guess it’s time for me to concede that my grandfather was right all along. Aliens are lazy.

We weren’t expecting to do another post about The Avengers‘ filming, but, as long as the people of Cleveland keep stalking the set, we’re game. The previous galleries are available here and here.

The first video below shows Chris Evans lying seemingly unconscious in an alleyway (just like the start of a very sexy dream I had). The second video doesn’t get good until about 1:20 in, and then shizz gets real as everyone starts shooting in the air (probably at a spaceship). Is this really a scene from the film? Are we sure this isn’t just old footage of Cleveland reacting to the news LeBron was leaving?

As we mentioned in the huge picture gallery yesterday, The Avengers is filming in Cleveland this week, with East 9th Street between Euclid and Prospect avenues being used as a stand-in for 42nd Street in New York City.  Now we have another huge batch of pictures and a video from the set.

There are several potential spoilers in the gallery below, including the sight of – spoiler alert – alien weaponry and guys in motion capture suits. The consensus among nerds like us who like to spitball assumptions on message boards is that it’s totally the Skrulls you guys.  Or some other alien race because Hollywood is obsessed with alien invasion movies right now.  If only they could also figure out a way to add some werewolves . . .
