A Compendium of Cool Comics Cosplay: January 27th

01.27.12 Written by Angelophile

It’s time once again for our Friday comic book cosplay feature, spotlighting the best superhero (and villain) related costuming from the cosplay community.  We’re casting the spotlight onto those cosplayers who we think deserve special recognition for coming up with the best costumes, whatever the budget, and the photographers who capture them for posterity.

Gamma Squad is committed to giving a voice to the cosplay community that thrives in groups like our friends at TheSuperheroCostumingForum.com. Each week we spotlight our favorite costumes and each month we host a cosplay contest. We’ll be picking a theme for each month and inviting cosplayers, costumers and photographers to submit related pictures of their work to our Flickr group to be considered. We’ll then pick our top choices and post them on Gamma Squad for the adoration of all.

The theme for the upcoming month is:

  • Super Villains and Diabolical Foes

For now, enjoy this week’s selection!

A Compendium of Cool Comics Cosplay: Spider-man and Friends (Week 1)

12.23.11 Written by Angelophile

It’s time once again for Gamma Squad’s Friday cosplay feature, spotlighting the best comic book related costuming from the cosplay community.  We’re again casting the spotlight onto those cosplayers who we think deserve special recognition for coming up with the best costumes, whatever the budget, and the photographers who capture them for posterity.

For the next two weeks we’re celebrating the holiday season with a special Spider-man theme, with the cream of cosplay from across the web (no pun intended), submitted to our Flickr group or by our friends at The Superhero Costuming Forum. No snow and turkey, but plenty of webspinning from your friendly neighborhood cosplayers.

So, without further ado, let’s continue with this week’s selection!

NEXT MARVEL UNIVERSE EXCLUSIVE NEEDS YOUR VOTE

03.11.10 Written by Jon

Norman Osborn wants your vote!If you’re a fan of Marvel action figures, you know all about Hasbro’s 3 3/4″ Marvel Universe figures – especially how annoyingly hard it can be to find some of them. One of the rarest was last year’s Nick Fury mail-away figure – which was only available to people who subscribed to Marvel’s Digital Comics Unlimited site. (And as a give away at a couple live Marvel events, too.) If you didn’t grab it then, you can grab it on eBay…for between $85 and $95.

Well, Hasbro’s offering a chance for fans to choose which will be the next exclusive Marvel figure and they’re offering a choice of three: Archangel in his current X-Force outfit, Norman Osborne in his H.A.M.M.E.R. outfit or Moonstone in her Ms. Marvel outfit.

It’s interesting to note that they’ve shied away from having a truly unique character like Fury as the mail-away. After all, another version of Archangel will be coming out in wave 8 and we already got two different versions of Ms. Marvel back in wave 3. There’s no other version of Osborne announced so far, but by doing him in his H.A.M.M.E.R. outfit, they can easily do a regular, suited version of him later on without having to tool a new head or have collectors who shelled out for the exclusive get too angry.
