You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out: Pump Action Slingshot Crossbow

10.10.11 Written by RoboPanda

Jörg Sprave of The Slingshot Channel is back with another slingshot, a pump action crossbow. It shoots 20mm steel balls and can hold twenty balls at the same time (like your mom). It can grab a new ball with one very quick move of the hand (like your mom). The video below shows Sprave smashing glass bottles with this ultra-convenient slingshot. He’s also got a new intro and outro for his clips, which includes the scene pictured above for some reason.

Sprave says this repeating slingshot crossbow is the fastest shooter he’s built yet. It can fire the next shot faster than his machete slingshot, Gatling gun slingshot, 6-shot slingshot, circular saw blade launcher, musket ball crossbow, zombie decapitator, and slingshot cannon. That was merely an excuse to link to a bunch of our posts. We’re just simple folk trying to make a buck (like your mom).

Middle-Aged Unemployed Ninja Briton

09.01.11 Written by RoboPanda

Father of two and unemployed ex-military guard Ken Andre of Yeovil, Somerset, England, prowls the streets up to four nights a week in his Japanese Ninjutsu robe as a self-styled superhero named Shadow. He carries a wooden pole, wears a sound-amplifying earpiece, and says of a man whom he caught vandalizing his car, “I tied him to the lamppost using his own legs and called the police. That is just one example of what I can do.” That settles it; I’m going to start ending sentences with, “That is just one example of what I can do.”

Tell me more things about this dreamboat that aren’t dissettling in the least, SWNS:

Ken – aka Shadow – said today: “When I was seven or eight I used to see my mum being beaten up by various boyfriends. I vowed not to let it happen again to my friends and family. So I grew up from a little child into a weapon. Even today when I hear cries, it sets something off inside – like a trigger. Something calls me. I am a force for good and have been doing this for many years. I have walked down the streets and no-one has ever seen me – even in urban areas.”

All the best superheroes have triggering situations. That’s a fact. For example, Aquaman goes absolutely batsh-t if you mention the Gorton’s Fisherman.

[Ken] also has developed a special roaring war cry to help disperse crowds of youths. Ken started his remarkable night-time jaunts after him and his brother came across a group of thugs beating up a man six years ago. He said the gang members were so alarmed when he jumped out in his ninja outfit, they bolted.

Who doesn’t wear ninja robes when just hanging out with their brother? Show of hands. That’s right, none, because we all do that. Also, ninjas don’t growl. If you hear a ninja, they aren’t a ninja. Then again, Ken has invented his own ninja style, so growling is allowed:

The crime-fighter has devised his own interpretation of a ninja soldier – called Tengujutsu – after years of research. He also says wife Leigh and two young sons, Troy, aged three, and Drew, aged four, have fully accepted his night-time activities. Ken added: “I have made contact with some of the greatest ninjas in the world. I have created my own form by studying martial arts and the human anatomy. You need to learn how to break down the body quick.”

It is our sincerest hope that, somewhere in Japan, there’s a Japanese man in a Queen’s Guard uniform — complete with the big silly hat — prowling the streets at night looking for ruffians. If he has been in contact with some of the greatest Queen’s Guards in the world, well, that’s just a nice plus.

Slingshot Cannon Versus Car, Who Ya Got?

08.29.11 Written by RoboPanda

Take that, stupid trees, with your production of oxygen and providing of shade. GRRR!

Jörg Sprave of The Slingshot Channel has built a slingshot larger than his machete slingshot, Gatling gun slingshot, 6-shot slingshot, circular saw blade launcher, musket ball crossbow, and zombie decapitator combined. Its a ten-fold larger version of his desktop slingshot cannon. It fires 80 mm (3.15″) steel balls using six full Thera Band Gold stripes on each side; Sprave says this setup is 72 times stronger than a conventional slingshot, which makes him 72 times dreamier than other slingshot makers if you ask me.

This ten-foot-long cannon can fire the steel balls up to 200 meters (220 yards), but, more importantly, he shoots it at a car at close range in the video below because that’s exactly what you do with a homemade cannon. Even if you don’t have permission.

Guillotine-On-The-Go With The Zombie Decapitation Slingshot

07.21.11 Written by RoboPanda

Jörg Sprave of The Slingshot Channel has built another awesome weapon to add to his collection next to the machete slingshot, the Gatling gun slingshot, the 6-shot slingshot, the slingshot that launches circular saw blades, and the musket ball crossbow.  We’ve been saying for awhile we’re team Sprave when the zombiepocalypse happens, and now he’s given us another reason to hide behind him during a zombie attack.  He’s built a slingshot designed specifically for decapitating zombies and halving watermelons.  THIS IS IMPORTANT.

He calls it the “world’s first handheld guillotine” and adds, “This video is not entirely meant serious, and please, don’t do this at home.”  Yeah, definitely don’t do this at home, especially not the part where he put his own head in it and I almost crapped my pants till I noticed it wasn’t cocked and loaded at the time.  He built this decapitation machine after receiving an “indirect challenge” from zombiehunters.org. If this is how he responds to an indirect challenge I’d like to see what he does about a direct one.  Many watermelons will perish that fateful day.

This Slingshot Crossbow Has Huge Balls

06.14.11 Written by RoboPanda

We’ve been following Jörg Sprave of The Slingshot Channel‘s work for quite some time.  You may remember him as the smiley German behind the machete slingshot, the Gatling gun slingshot, the 6-shot slingshot, and a slingshot which launches circular saw blades.  We’re totally team Sprave when the zombiepocalypse happens.  The video below shows off his newest build, which shoots 0.75″ wide lead musket balls with 38 foot pounds of energy, achieving speeds of 177 feet per second.  With big, weighty musket balls.  Dayum.

He calls it the “Medieval Style Musket Ball Shooting Slingshot Crossbow”.  I know what you’re thinking: they didn’t have muskets in Medieval Times.  Clearly you didn’t hear about the time the Uproxx Musket Club had dinner at Medieval Times.  And I’m going to tell you what I told the judge: the Black Knight never said we couldn’t take a musket to a joust fight.

Slingshot Shoots Circular Sawblades By The Seashore

05.31.11 Written by RoboPanda

We’ve already covered Jörg Sprave’s other awesomely-safe slingshots, including his machete slingshot, his Gatling gun slingshot, and his 6-shot slingshot.  Now he’s built a slingshot to launch sawblades, because f–k watermelons.  If when there’s a zombie apocalypse, you want this guy on your team.

Circular sawblades are about as dangerous to be shot from a slingshot as it gets. Heavy. Sharp. Unpredictable in flight.
Seems like the perfect challenge for us here at The Slingshot Channel! [YouTube]

He discovered that rotational speed was what he needed to build into his slingshot design.  There’s something unsettling about a guy wielding a deadly weapon while saying with a German accent that he’s found the solution.  My spidey sense is tingling.
